Something To Wear - by Salon K
ABOUT
The inspiration of my designs is the kimono, which in English translates into: a thing to wear… - Something to wear.
How I see the kimono is the opposite of the fitted dress, which encase the body and keeps it that way. The kimono is square and angular in its design, but constructed with a sensuous fabric, is drapes and falls, follows and changes according to your movements. It moves with the air and allows your skin to breathe. The angular and straight become curves and movements. It becomes part of you. As life itself, in constant change.

I have spent my whole life creating experiences for people. As a dancer & performer and as choreographer & director. One essential part of creating performances are what the artists wear. And I have always designed the costumes for my performances. My approach to costumes on stage is that if the artists feel good in their costumes and would like to wear it in private life, then it will not only feel good, but look good.
After decades of designing for the stage, I want to bring this approach and feeling to directly to the private sphere.
When I create choreography for a dancer, the starting point is what the artists will feel living the movements. Designing for Something to wear, I use the same process - what will the person wearing this feel. How does it feel on the skin, how does it move, what feeling and energy does it give the person wearing it that is then radiated to the people around.
